Yes. Free is a full run through the workflow rather than a trial that expires, so you can stay on it as long as you like. When you move to Professional, everything already in your account stays where it is — the higher limits and full history simply apply from then on.
Your usage period runs from the day your plan started, not from the first of the calendar month — a plan that began on the 30th resets on the 30th of each following month. Analyses do not roll over: each new period starts from the full allowance again.
